Project Details
Summary
Created for the intermediate level cyclist, this video presentation goes over protocols of group riding.
This project was created using:
MS Powerpoint, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Express
The Process
During the summer of 2021, there was a sudden interest in cycling, and as a result, my local cycling club saw quite a rise in membership. It was apparent that many of these members were new to group riding, so it was deemed necessary to onboard new members in the proper safety procedures and protocols to ensure smooth and safe rides. After listening to the needs and desires of the club's leadership, I created a concise presentation easily viewable by all members as a training and resource to ensure successful outings.
The Outcome
Having noticed an increase in accidents and incidents prior to this training, there was noticeable improvement in the organization of the cycling group (peloton) on the road, which led to considerably fewer accidents. The presentation was paired with a brief in-person assessment to analyze efficacy, which proved fruitful.
Takeaways
Having presented many times to groups large and small, I was initially hesitant to create a video presentation, feeling that my strengths lied in my in-person demeanor. This project forced me out of my comfort zone, and allowed me to combine my technical audio/video skills - learned during the pandemic - to create a succinct but effective video tutorial.
